4 Tips for a Great Summer Pregnancy

You’re carrying a sweet baby boy or girl, and it’s 100 degrees outside…how on earth are you going to survive another couple months of summer?!

Hydrate

Water is typically the most underutilized nutrient during pregnancy. It is so incredibly important to stay hydrated during pregnancy, and even more so when it’s hot outside, because your own body is sweating out fluid. Dehydration can lead to a number of problems including headaches, swelling, or low amniotic fluid. Did you know that your amniotic fluid gets replenished every hour? That means you should be drinking a minimum of 100 ounces of water a day.

Pack Snacks

Eating small protein packed meals every 2-3 hours can not only help with nausea but it can also help keep your energy level up. Pack easy snacks with you wherever you go like, trail mix with nuts and seeds, jerky, granola bars, and if you can keep a smaller cooler bag with you yogurt, cut up fruit, salads with grilled chicken, or even a protein shake is great too.

Stay Cool

Splurge on a cute maternity swimsuit and hit up the pool! If you already have little ones, the splash pad parks are a great alternative, or get a small cheap kiddie pool for the backyard, and a comfy lawn chair to sit in the pool. When you’re out and about, carry a misting fan that you can spritz yourself with. You won’t regret it!

Take It Easy

Remember that you are growing a human being and that takes a LOT of work. Don’t over plan or take on too much, especially outdoors when it’s hot. Run errands early in the morning or in the evening with the sun is setting. Nap when you can! Your body and baby will thank you.
